Ellwood Announces New Aluminum Manufacturing Plant in Ohio

Noria news wires

The Ellwood Group Inc. (EGI) recently announced the construction of a new aluminum casting facility at its Ellwood Engineered Castings (EEC) site in Hubbard, Ohio. The new 70,000-square-foot aluminum manufacturing plant will expand the company's material production capabilities beyond steel to better serve the tool and die, aerospace forging, plate mill rolling, and extrusion industries.

Ellwood will invest more than $60 million to expand its existing footprint and infrastructure in Hubbard, equipping the new facility with the latest technology in aluminum melting and casting. Once operational, the plant will employ approximately 30 full-time personnel and produce a projected 150 million pounds of large, round billet and slabs. Construction of the new facility will begin in the coming months and is expected to be fully commissioned by the first quarter of 2020.

"We decided on Hubbard as the site of our new facility because of its location relative to our potential market, its exceptional workforce and the comprehensive incentive package and assistance provided at both the state and local levels," said Ben Huffman, EGI's chief operating officer. "Overall, we are excited to grow our presence in the Mahoning Valley and bring new jobs and opportunities to the region."

Headquartered in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, EGI produces high-quality metals and custom-engineered components for equipment manufacturers in the United States and around the world. The company operates multiple plants in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Texas, Canada and Mexico.
