Owens Corning on December 7 announced that Mike Thaman has assumed the primary executive responsibility for the company. He is chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer. As previously announced, Thaman succeeds Dave Brown who retired as a director and officer of Owens Corning on December 6, 2007.
Thaman, 43, becomes the seventh CEO in Owens Corning's 69-year history. He was previously chairman of the board. Thaman was named to the company's board of directors in 2002 and became chairman of the board later that year. He also served as Owens Corning's chief financial officer from 2000 to 2007.
Prior to being named chief financial officer, Thaman held the positions of president of Owens Corning's Exterior Systems business in North America and of its Engineered Pipe business in
Thaman was selected by the board of directors in April of 2007 to succeed Mr. Brown, who served as president and chief executive officer since 2002.
