A wide range of specialty alloys are helping die casters create products that withstand higher temperatures, allow for thinner wall casting or improve production processes, according to a new white paper, "Specialty Alloys Provide a Range of Die Casting Solutions," published by the North American Die Casting Association (NADCA).

"NADCA has been an active participant in advanced research with academic institutions, government researchers, private industry and other trade organizations to develop specialty alloys that meet a specific product need or provide solutions for a general set of industry criteria," said Daniel L. Twarog, president.

The white paper highlights the development of a creep resistant zinc alloy suitable for use in higher temperature applications, a more ductile aluminum alloy and alloy formulations that are most suitable for semi-solid metal processing.

"The white paper offers readers an overview of some of the most recent, innovative alloy developments and provides sources to obtain more detailed information on various specialty alloys," noted Twarog.

Based in Wheeling, Ill., the North American Die Casting Association represents the world's most effective die casters creating the world's best cast products. The organization serves as the voice of the industry, promoting growth and enhancing its members' ability to compete domestically in the global marketplace.
