The American Society for Quality (ASQ) has appointed Michelle Mason as managing director. In this role, she will concentrate on business development and membership initiatives. Mason will serve as a member of the four-person ASQ management committee, which leads the organization in the execution of the society’s vision, strategic objectives and business plan.
Appointed by ASQ executive director and chief strategic officer Paul Borawski, the management committee is also charged with the day-to-day operations of the society.
“I am honored to work with a team so passionately committed to quality as a way of life,” Mason said. “It is through ASQ’s innovative products and services that quality will become a widespread term to signify excellence.”
Mason most recently served as vice president of research programs for the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Foundation, Washington, D.C. She has more than 16 years experience in association management with the last eight years at ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership. Prior to ASAE & The Center, Mason worked for the formerly Chemical Manufacturers Association, now the American Chemistry Council.
Mason is a Certified Association Executive (CAE), with an MBA from the University of Maryland, a second master’s degree in management with a not-for-profit concentration from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing from Strayer University.
