Grace Introduces New Predictive Maintenance System

Grace Engineered Products recently introduced a new predictive maintenance system to help users detect equipment failures before they occur. The GraceSense Predictive Maintenance System incorporates wireless sensors, configurable hardware architecture and an intuitive user interface to curb unplanned downtime.

The initial offering consists of four unique products and a web-based user interface. The battery-powered vibration and temperature node can be deployed on any rotating equipment to predict anomalies before they turn into catastrophic failures. The temperature node can monitor the surface temperature of any asset. The Panel-Mount/CloudGate collects data wirelessly from the nodes and transmits to the remote cloud using either a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) or plant Wi-Fi connection.

In addition to the wireless nodes, the system also features a non-conductive temperature monitoring device called the Hot Spot Monitor (HSM), which is designed to detect temperature abnormalities in electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers, etc. A single HSM can monitor up to 18 connections within critical electrical assets.

The Maintenance Hub serves as a remote user interface for configuring the devices and monitoring their analytics. When the monitored equipment parameters exceed a preset threshold value, the hub issues text messages or email alerts to maintenance personnel with remediation instructions.
