Batesville Casket Company's Manchester, Tenn., manufacturing plant has been named the national winner of the Manufacturing Excellence Award presented by the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME).
Each year, AME selects several regional winners for Manufacturing Excellence Awards, but recognizes only one North American plant as its National Award Winner. This year, they honored Batesville Casket Company's Manchester, Tenn., manufacturing plant. AME evaluates facilities against a wide variety of criteria including quality performance, on-time delivery and productivity improvements. The award was presented at AME's annual conference, held last week in Dallas.
"Our Manufacturing Excellence Award competition is traditionally very intense," said AME president Ralph Keller. "Batesville's Manchester plant was chosen as the best of the best among all of the North American nominees based on its impressive record of outstanding performance and the management practices the company has put in place to maintain its industry leading quality and customer service."
