SKF has launched a new condition monitoring thermometer designed for operator-driven reliability (ODR) maintenance tasks on bearings, gearboxes and other critical machine components.

The TKDT 10 is a compact, accurate instrument for measuring temperature by direct contact and offers a wide measurement range, from minus 328 degrees F to 2,501 degrees F (minus 200 degrees C to 1,372 degrees C).

With the ability to allow two temperature probes to be connected, the device can display two measurements simultaneously along with their temperature difference and minimum, maximum or average values to further support the measurement task.

While contact temperature devices are not typically supplied with a probe, the TKDT 10 comes equipped with the TMDT 2-30 temperature probe, which is also suitable for many applications.

The thermometer also features a large back-lit liquid-crystal display (LCD) to ensure that temperatures can be seen in poorly lit environments with the possibility to freeze the display to further enhance easy reading.

"The TKDT 10 is a valuable instrument for use in ODR programs or by the maintenance team," says Mark Ely, SKF product manager. "Supplied with a high-quality temperature probe, users can be confident in obtaining fast, easy and accurate machine temperature measurements."
