IBM completes acquisition of MRO Software

RP news wires, Noria Corporation

IBM on October 5 announced it had completed its acquisition of MRO Software, Inc., a publicly held company based in Bedford, Mass. IBM announced a definitive agreement to acquire MRO on August 3. MRO's operations will be integrated into IBM's Tivoli software business.

MRO's asset and service management software and consulting services are used by many of the world's top companies to effectively manage how they buy, maintain and retire assets – such as production equipment, facilities, transportation and information technology hardware and software – in a wide variety of industries including utilities, manufacturing, energy, pharmaceutical and telecommunications.

This acquisition builds upon IBM's strategy to leverage business consulting, IT services and software to develop repeatable tools that help clients optimize and transform their businesses. It brings together the best of enterprise asset management, IBM service management and IT asset management that can be used by clients across multiple industries. This enables IBM to provide software and services that manage multiple assets on a single technology platform, which addresses the growing convergence of business and IT assets in enterprises today.
