Ready Mix Inc. announced September 14 the opening of a new ready-mix concrete batch plant site in southwest Phoenix. The Tolleson Plant becomes the third RMI plant operating in the Phoenix area and is the third plant to be completed out of four new plants planned by the company following its IPO in August 2005.
"Our new Tolleson Plant allows RMI to serve existing and new customers located in areas too distant to be served from our other Phoenix-area plants. This new plant also is ideally located near the proposed new alignment of the southwest Loop 202 freeway, with good access to some of the area's most active real estate development," said RMI vice president Bob DeRuiter. "With 174 mixer trucks now in our fleet, and delivery pending on an additional 10 trucks, we have the delivery capability we need to handle our increased production capacity."
The land and aggregate production facilities for the Tolleson plant are owned and operated by the Salt River Materials Group. Locally owned Salt River Materials Group is a major supplier of aggregates in the metropolitan Phoenix area, manufactures Portland and blended cements at its 1.2 million tons-per-year plant in Clarkdale, Ariz., and is the largest supplier of fly ash and other recycled coal combustion products in Arizona and New Mexico.
