Century Plating settles with EPA on hazardous waste violations

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 has settled with Century Plating Inc. of Cleveland for alleged violations of federal hazardous waste regulations. A $39,916 penalty has been set.

The company, a large quantity generator of hazardous waste located at 18006 South Waterloo Road, failed to have a storage permit, submit an annual report, make a waste determination, comply with its contingency plan, document and keep employee training records, maintain and test emergency equipment, make and document agreements with emergency services, and mark, close and inspect weekly, containers of hazardous plating waste.

Under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, EPA controls hazardous waste from its production to final disposal.
