Cooper Industries on August 16 announced the promotion of David L. Pawl to the position of vice president, operations. Pawl, who joined Cooper in February, has served as vice president and general manager of Cooper Wheelock, a newly acquired Cooper company. He will report to chairman and chief executive officer Kirk S. Hachigian.

In this role, Pawl will be responsible for manufacturing, capacity planning, distribution and logistics, supply chain and inventory management, strategic sourcing and quality programs across Cooper's eight business units and its broad product portfolio. He will also evaluate opportunities to identify and implement improvements through Cooper's Manufacturing Variance Program (MVP), which combines the power of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma to maximize operations around the world.

"Dave Pawl's extensive operations experience provides the company with exceptional leadership," said Hachigian. "He brings demonstrated capabilities and success in manufacturing, sourcing, distribution and logistics, and a tremendous knowledge of commercial processes, all of which are important elements as we expand our product portfolio to drive higher levels of customer satisfaction."

Prior to joining Cooper, Pawl served in a number of increasingly responsible roles with GE, including leadership of GE Lighting, distribution and logistics, and its worldwide sourcing operations. In his last position, he served as president of GE Quartz, Inc.
