Cardinal Systems Inc., a leader in the manufacturing of galvanized steel panels for in-ground swimming pool panels and components, was recently honored at the Manufacturing Excellence Awards Dinner.

Hosted annually by the Northeast Pennsylvania Manufacturers and Employers Association (MAEA), the event recognizes the top manufacturing and service-providing companies for community involvement, energy efficiency/environmental improvements, and product innovation/expansion. Legislative and senatorial citations were also presented to each award winner

Cardinal Systems was selected as the 2009 recipient of the Manufacturing Excellence Award for Production Expansion. The company was recognized for its recent major growth in diversifying outside the pool industry, a driving aspect of its corporate mission.

The business has developed a new residential and commercial modular steel foundation system used in the construction industry. Additionally, it has acquired the assets of Quaker Plastic Corporation, which gives it extrusion and thermoforming capabilities in custom plastics while also extending its reach into its core business.

Cardinal Systems has also added structural foam molding presses to complement its steel production. This allows the company to mold its own products as well as contract molds for other companies outside the pool industry.

Accepting the product expansion award for Cardinal Systems, Mickey Bradley gave credit to the company's employees. "We have the greatest workforce in the city, and it is their effort that made Cardinal Systems grow," Bradley said.
