Click Commerce Inc., a leading provider of service network solutions, on January 22 announced that it has signed a three-year agreement with Southern Company, a leading U.S. electricity company based in Atlanta, that will enable it to reduce its parts inventory and replace legacy systems with Click Commerce’s user-friendly solution.

Under the Software as a Service agreement, Click Commerce Parts will help Southern Company manage its inventory of more than 500,000 part numbers across 200 stocking locations. Southern Company owns electric utilities in four states and serves 4.4 million customers.

Click Commerce solutions enable organizations such as Southern Company to optimize inventory levels and parts flow across complex networks. The software analyzes inventory patterns and makes recommendations on parts ordering and allocation based on demand, allowing companies to improve fill rates and service objectives. By choosing Click Commerce’s Software as a Service, Southern Company will handle its own planning while paying a subscription for access to the latest software and technology hosted by Click Commerce.

“After researching several companies, we chose Click Commerce because of its proven track record and premium planning solutions that adeptly manage complex service networks,” said Laura Green, director of supply chain management at Southern Company.

“We are excited about working with Southern Company to help them provide the best service possible to their customers and to be further expanding our presence in the energy sector,” said David Barboro, general manager of Click Commerce’s Service Network Solutions division. “Our flexible solutions are designed for industries where spare parts are critical – from aerospace and defense to manufacturing to public utilities – because they offer the visibility and control needed to optimize processes and attain service level agreements.”
