Podcasts: ASQ series covers manufacturing quality

The first-ever podcasts from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) are now available on www.asq.org/manufacturing. The inaugural podcasts discuss quality methodologies on topics specific to the manufacturing industry and feature ASQ’s subject matter experts. The content is devoted to exploring timely issues and trends and providing solutions to challenges affecting the quality community.

First Podcasts Cover Food Safety
The first two of a three-part series on food manufacturing safety is now available — with the next podcast in the series set for release in mid-September. The podcasts feature ASQ subject matter experts Steven Wilson and Janet Raddatz, who specialize in food safety. The podcasts are titled:

1.      Why HACCP Certification Helps You (MP3, 3.93 MB, 8:25)Part 1 of 3: Steve Wilson and Janet Raddatz discuss the value of certification and how it can help your company and you as an individual.

2.      Transform Your Food Supply Chain Using Quality Systems (MP3, 5.23 MB, 5:40) Part 2 of 3: Learn about the different ways you can apply quality systems to your supply chain.

3.      Quality Tools and Standards – Your Weapons of TransformationPart 3 of 3:  ASQ experts Wilson and Raddatz discuss what quality tools and standards will help build more efficient supply chains.

About the Experts
Steve Wilson serves on ASQ’s board of directors and is the lead figure in the field of HACCP for the USDC Seafood Inspection Program. He has been the main developer, trainer and implementer of the Program, having personally trained hundreds of industry and government personnel in quality management principles. 

Janet Raddatz is a member of ASQ’s Customer Supplier Division and is vice president of quality and food safety systems at Sargento Foods Inc. Raddatz has been involved in the development, implementation and auditing of quality and food safety systems for 30 years.

To ensure they don’t miss any of the upcoming podcasts, listeners can subscribe through RSS feeds on the ASQ Web site. The podcasts will also be posted to the iTunes library for easy download. ASQ’s new online Knowledge Center will also house the podcasts in the future, providing the quality community with multiple avenues to access these informative podcasts.  Future topics will include a series on ISO 9000. ISO 9000 contains the family of 17 standards for quality management systems.
