Services include rocket propulsion testing, materials and components testing, depot level repair of flight hardware, and maintenance and repair of test systems required for these activities. Support at White Sands historically has focused on the Space Shuttle and International Space Station.
With this win, Jacobs now holds the bulk of the U.S. government's major rocket testing contracts. These contracts include work at the U.S. Air Force's Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) at Arnold AFB, Tenn.; the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Edwards AFB, Calif.; the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) at China Lake, Calif.; NASA Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Miss.; and at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center at Huntsville, Ala.
The Jacobs team includes subcontractors Muniz Engineering, GeoControl Systems and ERC Incorporated, all of whom currently support Jacobs' $1.15 billion Engineering Support contract at NASA Johnson Space Center.
In making the announcement, Jacobs president Craig Martin said, "We are proud to expand our role to the overall mission of our NASA customer by providing support services to an eighth NASA site, the White Sands Test Facility. We look forward to bringing our 50-year history of providing propulsion test support services to bear on behalf of the important work performed at White Sands."
