Designing a Handheld Infrared Oil Analyzer

Reliability professionals have not been quick to adopt Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometers for use in the field due to the challenges of miniaturization, sample introduction and the need for high-quality results without the help of a trained oil analyst. However, Spectro Inc. has developed a handheld infrared oil analyzer that combines the power of a laboratory FTIR spectrometer, Karl Fischer titrator and TAN/TBN titrator into a field-based device without sacrificing core analyses.
