The International Council for Machinery Lubrication (ICML) is a vendor-neutral, not-for-profit organization that serves global industry as the world-class authority on machinery lubrication that advances the optimization of asset reliability, utilization, and costs. ICML is: (1) a CERTIFICATION body dedicated to helping lubrication practitioners succeed in their professional careers. > Since 2001, ICML has certified tens of thousands of hands-on practitioners with progressive levels of MLA (Machine Lubricant Analyst), MLT (Machinery Lubrication Technician), LLA (Laboratory Lubricant Analyst), and the singular MLE (Machinery Lubrication Engineer). ICML's certification exams are in accordance with ISO 18436 and are available worldwide, in multiple languages. (2) a technical AWARDS body recognizing companies that excel in oil analysis and machinery lubrication programs. > Presented annually, the Augustus H. Gill Award and the John R. Battle Award are open to companies worldwide, and there is no cost to apply. (3) a STANDARDS body for lubricated asset management. > Introduced in 2019, ICML 55™ Standards spell out requirements and guidelines for effective, certifiable management of lubricated mechanical assets. These standards are strategically aligned to ISO 55000 and are intended to support an organization’s physical asset management plans. Part 1 (ICML 55.1) is the requirements standard, which was published in April 2019. (4) a MEMBERSHIP & VOLUNTEER body. > While subject matter experts are always sought to help with R&D programs under guidance from the board of directors, ICML also offers annual membership packages to engage exam sponsors, independent trainers, certified professionals, and other complementary or synergistic organizations who are interested in machinery lubrication and who subscribe to the purposes and objectives of the Council.
