Techni-Tool celebrates its 50th anniversary

At a time when so many companies have merged or been purchased by conglomerates, Techni-Tool is marking a milestone this year – celebrating its 50th anniversary as a family-owned business.

Techni-Tool, which was founded in Philadelphia in 1959, provides solutions and supplies for the electronics production and assembly industries.

“In an era of constant change, our customers know they can rely on us today as well as tomorrow to provide innovative products, technical expertise and same day shipping,” said Paul Weiss, Techni-Tool president. “While we utilize state-of-the-art technology to offer the highest level of service, our old-fashioned emphasis on putting customers first remains unchanged after 50 years.”

Techni-Tool, which is based in the Philadelphia suburb of Worcester, Pa., was founded 50 years ago by Ben Weiss. It began when Weiss started getting orders from General Electric, RCA and other companies for the instruments sold by his dental supply company. These customers needed fine cutting pliers, wire holders and tweezers and could find them nowhere else. This led Weiss to create a four-page black-and-white flyer with 20 products that he then mailed to selected companies. The effort was so successful that he began to search out new products to serve this emerging market. The rest, as they say, is history: Techni-Tool was born.

Today, the company is led by Blanche Weiss, chief executive and wife of the late Ben Weiss, and their three sons: Paul Weiss, president, and Stuart and Steven Weiss, executive vice presidents.

Techni-Tool offers customized business solutions and more than 40,000 products from manufacturers such as Fluke, Cooper Tools, Weller, BK Precision, Tektronix, Ideal and many more. The company also offers a line of proprietary products that includes:

·        Techni-Stat ESD products

·        Techni-Tool tweezers

·        Tec-Tuff cases

·        Techni-Tool tool kits (both pre-assembled and customized)

·        Tec-Cut electronic pliers, Infinity Elite, cutters and strippers

“Our comprehensive solutions and commitment to customer service continue to be the cornerstones of the value Techni-Tool adds to every order,” Paul Weiss said. “The goal of our 220-plus employees is to continue to provide the highest levels of personal service for the next half century and beyond.”
