Since 2003, Z Corporation of Wilmington, Mass., has employed lean manufacturing to drive their improvement efforts. By implementing single-piece flow, customer-driven production, standardized work, kanban systems, a quality-at-the-source approach and other lean tools, Z Corporation has increased factory output by 300 percent, employee productivity by 45 percent and inventory turns by more than 50 percent, all while still maintaining an on-time delivery rate in excess of 95 percent.
