United Technologies Corporation (UTC) was recently honored as a “champion of energy efficiency” by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). Honored at ACEEE’s eighth biennial conference in July, UTC was recognized for its demonstrated excellence in the field of energy efficiency.

As a diversified company with products ranging from home heating and air conditioning to aerospace and helicopters, UTC successfully implemented an impressive energy reduction initiative. From 1997-2006, UTC lowered its energy consumption by 19 percent, its water use by 49 percent and air emissions by another 44 percent. Looking forward, UTC has set a goal to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 12 percent over the next four years, and will invest $100 million toward co-generation and energy conservation projects.

UTC is a founding member of the Pew Center on Global Climate Change and the U.S. Green Building Council, and is a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
