ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, announced July 12 that its North American Power Systems operation, headquartered in Raleigh, N.C., and its Robotics operation, headquartered in Auburn Hills, Mich., received the National Safety Council’s Perfect Safety Award.

The award recognizes companies, units and/or facilities that have completed a period of at least 12 consecutive months without incurring an occupational injury or illness that resulted in days away from work.

“These operations are the first to receive this award in North America,” said Darryl C. Hill, safety and health officer for ABB in North America. “These awards are the result of heightened awareness in all of ABB’s operations to take the necessary steps to help assure the safety of our employees. Our occupational health and safety (OHS) management systems, safety observation tours, professional development for OHS advisors and others have helped make these awards possible.”

Hill noted the incident rate for ABB is one-half of the national average for all industries.

ABB is a leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve their performance while lowering environmental impact. The ABB Group of companies operates in nearly 100 countries and employs approximately 109,000 people.
