Destructive Particles in Oil are Smaller Than You Think

Solid particles in lubricants can be incredibly destructive. Most of these particles are much smaller than the size of human hair or even floor dust. 
 
The lubricating film of a rolling element bearing is much smaller than these particles. It is about 1 micron or less in size. The particles that we are most concerned about are the particles that are most equivalent to the lubricating film.
