The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) on June 15 praised Rep. Charles Norwood’s (R-Ga.) leadership in convening a hearing on H.R. 5554, the Workplace Safety and Health Transparency Act, and urged continued action to guarantee thorough and scrupulous health and safety standards in the workplace.

“It’s important that any regulations be established through careful examination and public input,” said NAM vice president of human resources policy Sandy Boyd.  “This legislation will help ensure that any guidelines put in place will be based on public notice and comment rulemaking.”

Specifically, Norwood’s bill would prohibit the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or the Mine Safety and Health Administration from incorporating any regulation based on a determination from a non-consensus organization.
