Petty is the manager of TXI manufacturing resources for TXI's Cement Division. In her position, she oversees the Cement Division's mine safety program.

"Over her 48 years with TXI, Frances has been involved in many facets of the company, but none as important as our safety program," stated J. Lynn Davis, TXI vice president, Cement. "We are very fortunate to have a person of her knowledge and commitment involved in TXI's safety efforts."

This annual award is given to the person in the mining industry who has exhibited leadership in promoting health and safety within the industry. Steve Minshall of Holcim presented the award to Petty on behalf of the conference committee.
