Business activity in the Chicago area rose in November, while inflationary pressures also increased, according to a survey released November 30 by the National Association of Purchasing Management-Chicago.

The monthly business barometer known as the Chicago Purchasing Managers’ Index rose to 52.9 from 49.7 in October. The October reading had been the third this year that the index fell below 50, which indicates economic contraction.
