Masterfoods' $30 million plant expansion under way

Masterfoods USA (Cleveland, Tenn.), a division of privately held Mars Incorporated (McLean, Va.), is expanding its confections plant in Elizabethtown, Pa. Construction started this summer and is expected to be complete in the third quarter of 2008.

Demand for the company’s products, such as Dove chocolate, is increasing and Masterfoods expects the expansion to help fulfill that demand. It is estimated that the project will add 120 jobs to the 300 associates plus 100 local contractors the company already employs.

The $30 million investment calls for the addition of a 67,000-square-foot, one-story building and the installation of processing and packaging equipment to accommodate up to five new products lines. Industrial Info Resources detailed the scope of the project, tentative schedule and key contacts.
