Celeren Corporation, a national Energy Process Management (EPM) services company, announced on August 21 its acquisition of Brigger & Associates (B&A), a Cincinnati, Ohio-based industrial process controls company.
Celeren has acquired B&A’s patentable troubleshooting technology for industrial systems using programmable logic controllers (PLC) that captures, stores and displays events from any PLC bit address in the sequential order and time that they occurred, thereby providing rapid and certain recorded information for every PLC scan in minutes eliminating the delay in hours caused by incomplete, contradictory, faulty and slow information. The acquisition leverages Celeren’s industrial market growth, allowing Celeren to offer “cleantech” energy solutions to commercial, institutional and industrial facilities.
Celeren has also acquired B&A’s proprietary software that is utilized for many diverse applications in a variety of industries, such as steel, chemical, utility and general manufacturing. These programs, track the work-in-process status of a manual manufacturing system, replace paper batch sheets with a computer terminal, display parametric curves for a process or perform statistical analysis of collected data. In support of these programs, Celeren will prepare operating manuals, conduct operator training and provide post-project services.
“With this acquisition, Celeren continues to build the EPM capabilities necessary to manage its customers’ demand side and supply side energy assets and needs,” said Gerard M. McCabe, Celeren’s executive vice president. “Celeren will now have even greater access into the industrial arena as it offers automation and energy efficiency control solutions while also acquiring access to potential participants in its growing demand response program. By offering both supply-side and demand-side solutions, Celeren’s unique positioning on both sides of the energy meter allows us to become a single source cleantech solution, driving down and managing end-to-end energy costs in a variety of industries.”
A representative sampling of B&A’s former and current customers include: AK Steel Corporation; Bayer Corporation; Dayton Power and Light; General Electric Appliances; Honda R&D North America; Mittal Steel USA; Silmar Resins; Sun Chemical Company; Thomson/RCA; and United States Steel Corporation.
