The future remains bright for Arizona and Colorado, which together also claim the majority of future plant locations, with respectively 75 and 57 sites in various stages of development. While the spotlight remains on the two regional leaders, the Rocky Mountains as a whole anticipates substantial new plant construction growth with a total of 375 proposed facilities either in planning, engineering or construction phases.
While the region continues to expand as a whole within the industrial sector, it remains to be seen how long Arizona and Colorado will continue to be the regional leaders for operational production sites. Utah is in close range, currently claiming 15 percent of the operational locations within the Rocky Mountains. Utah, mirroring its neighbor state of Arizona, derives most of its operational plants from the Industrial Manufacturing sector with 75 sites.
The region, as covered in Industrial Info’s Rocky Mountain Online Plant Directory, has more than 2,100 industrial plant sites. The oil and gas transmission industry is the leader within the region with 370 operational plants. Metals and minerals and the food and beverage sector, tied for second, each with 331 operational industrial sites.
