A cooperative business relationship has been announced between Elliott Company, headquartered in Jeannette, Pa., and Turbirnaq Turbinas e
Maquinas LTDA, of Piracicaba, Brazil. Under terms of the agreement, the two companies will work together to develop, manufacture and market steam turbines for power generation applications throughout Brazil, and will provide aftermarket services to turbomachinery installed in that country.

"Turbimaq is well-established in Brazil, especially for the sugar and alcohol industries," says Donal P. Maloney, president of Elliott Company. "This is an exceptional opportunity for both companies to grow,
and that will be enhanced by Elliott's experience in serving a wide variety of other industries worldwide."

"Elliott has worked with turbomachinery products for a century," adds Jose Roberto Stockman, director of Turbimaq. "That rich tradition and experience is very important not only for providing increased credibility
to Turbimaq's new equipment sales, but also in helping Brazilian companies properly repair and maintain their existing machinery in the most cost effective way."

Initially the marketing of new steam turbines will focus on the sugar and alcohol industries, while aftermarket services will be promoted to general industrial clients, especially those in hydrocarbon processing activities. A new line of multistage industrial steam turbines will be designed and marketed jointly by Turbimaq and Elliott.

Elliott presently has a sales office in Rio de Janeiro. In the near future Elliott will compliment Turbimaq's sales resources to promote business growth in support of this agreement. An Elliott regional service manager will be located at the Turbimaq facility in Piracicaba as a liaison in coordinating factory and field services between the two companies.

Elliott, a global leader in manufacturing and marketing steam turbines and air and gas compressors, and related services, employs 1,200 persons worldwide, and operates 28 plant and office facilities. It is a
wholly owned subsidiary of Ebara Corporation, a major industrial conglomerate headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Turbimaq, founded in 1976, currently provides equipment and services applicable to steam turbines under IOMW primarily for the sugar and alcohol industries in Brazil, and employs 80 people.
