The SKF Advanced Bearing Analysis Kit now is available, providing all the necessary equipment and consumables for oil and overall machine vibration condition monitoring. The kit is designed to provide fast, accurate results for multiple oil parameters, on-site maintenance decisions and assessment of overall machine condition.

Supplied ready to use in a heavy-duty aluminum case, the SKF Advanced Bearing Analysis Kit’s main feature is the SKF Machine Condition Advisor (MCA). The MCA simultaneously measures machine vibration signals and temperature to indicate machine health and bearing condition.

Complementing the MCA is a test cell, a lubrication assessment tool engineered to provide accurate results for Water-in-Oil (lubricants) and Total Base Number (TBN) tests. The water-in-oil test helps maintain equipment by indicating if water appears in lubricants, which enables intervention that protects the equipment from damage.  The Total Base Number provides an indication of the oil’s alkaline reserve and ability to neutralize acids from combustion.

“The SKF Advanced Bearing Analysis Kit provides maintenance engineers with a condition monitoring solution that helps with on-site maintenance decisions to more effectively maintain plant equipment,” said Torsten Bark, product project manager, SKF. “Water contamination can cause various problems in lubricating oils, and the tools in the kit indentify those problems.”

Additionally, the kit contains a Viscostick and Insolubles. The Viscostick provides a simple “go/no go” result when the distillate fuel dilutions of an SAE 30 to 40 engine oil is tested. The Insolubles detects high insolubles from diesel engine combustion products such as fuel ash, carbon, partially oxidized fuel, oil oxidation products and spent lubrication additive.
