A. Schulman's Nashville plant ratifies labor agreement

A. Schulman Inc. announced June 11 that an agreement was ratified on with the Teamsters Local 327 on a new five-year labor contract that will cover approximately 27 union-represented workers at A. Schulman's facility in Nashville, Tenn. A. Schulman manufactures engineered compounds at the Nashville plant, which employs approximately 44 people.

 

Tedd Carpenter, plant manager in Nashville, stated, "We are pleased to have reached a new labor contract that is fair and equitable to both parties. A. Schulman's most valuable resource is our employee base and we look forward to continuing our successful relationship with the Teamsters as we grow our business."

 

The agreement replaces the current agreement. No additional details were released.

 

Headquartered in Akron, Ohio, A. Schulman is a leading international supplier of high-performance plastic compounds and resins. These materials are used in a variety of consumer, industrial, automotive and packaging applications. The company employs about 2,100 people and has 16 manufacturing facilities in North America, Europe and Asia. Revenues for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2008, were $1.98 billion.
