Honda Manufacturing of Indiana LLC in Greensburg, Ind., says North American production cuts for the company will mean 6,000 fewer vehicles produced at the plant between now and the end of March. Spokesman Andrew Stoner says workers will not be laid off. The more than 900 workers currently at the plant will have three options to deal with the downtime at the plant.

The employees can take part in training on specific days, take unpaid time off, or utilize vacation time with pay.

The plant will not be in production on December 22, 23 and January 5, 19, 23, 20.

Honda started mass production of the Civic at the Greesnburg plant in October. Plans at that time called for the $550 million facility to ultimately will produce 200,000 vehicles annually and employ 2,000 associates at full capacity.

The plant is also expected to produce a Hybrid Civic starting next year.
