Chrysler plant joins in $100K donation to YMCA

On February 4, the Chrysler Foundation and Kenosha (Wis.) Engine Plant presented the Kenosha YMCA with a $100,000 donation for its new Aquatics Center.

Chrysler’s donation will help build the aquatic center, which will be a new addition to the YMCA. The center will have two pools: a six-lane swimming pool and a warm water instructional pool. The YMCA will break ground for the aquatic center later this year.

"Kenosha Engine Plant and The Chrysler Foundation are pleased to assist the YMCA in its mission to promote health, exercise and strong bodies by building this new state-of-the-art aquatic center,” said Kevin Sell, Plant manager – Kenosha Engine Plant. “At Chrysler, we have a passion for supporting the communities where we live and work. The YMCA is the ideal organization for us to partner with as it encourages the community to live healthy lives through exercise."

The YMCA develops programs and services focused on the holistic development of children and youth, health and well-being for all and family strengthening. The YMCA has been a part of the Kenosha community since 1930.

The Chrysler Foundation and the Kenosha Engine Plant have supported the YMCA USA for more than 20 years. The Chrysler Foundation also has supported local Kenosha charities in the community including the United Way of Kenosha County, Kenosha Symphony, Kenosha Achievement Center and Kenosha Christmas Charities.

Kenosha Engine Plant (local UAW 72) manufactures 3.5-liter and 2.7-liter V-6 engines for front- and rear-wheel-drive Chrysler and Dodge vehicles, including the Chrysler 300, Dodge Magnum, Dodge Charger, Dodge Avenger, Chrysler Sebring Sedan and Convertible. The 1.9 million square foot plant has 850 employees.
