Williams Kherkher Hart Boundas LLP announced January 14 that opening statements will be heard on January 15 in the case of Nettie Broome, et al. vs. The Dow Chemical Company (cause no. 16383*BH01). The trial will be held in the 23rd District Court of Brazoria County, Texas. Judge Ben Hardin will preside.

Alton Wolf worked as an operator at Dow Chemical's Freeport, Texas, plant for 30 years. Because Dow uses asbestos in its regular maintenance operations at the plant, Wolf was exposed. He eventually developed lung cancer from the asbestos and died in 1999. He was 65 years old.

"Alton Wolf literally gave his life to Dow," said Troy Chandler, the Williams Kherkher attorney representing Wolf's family. "What's even more shameful, if that's possible, is that Dow continues to use asbestos to this day – even though the federal government ruled it a silent killer over three decades ago, and now there are much safer alternatives."

Williams Kherkher will be asking the jury to compensate Wolf's family for the financial and emotional loss from his death.
