Strategic Plant Reliability Management

Linking Reliability to Financial and Competitive Results

Senior management is responsible for delivering a return on the resources provided by the owners or shareholders of a firm. Investors and prospective investors carefully consider measures of management effectiveness, such as return on assets (ROA), return on net assets (RONA), return on equity (ROE), etc. when making investment decisions.

For a physical equipment assetdependent manufacturing or process industry firm, RONA is senior management’s most controllable factor. Effective plant reliability management is all about driving RONA by engineering waste and unnecessary costs out of the operation.

However, to maximize RONA, you must create a synergy between the affecting functions of plant and equipment design, procurement, commissioning, plant operations and plant maintenance. This is the scope of effective plant reliability management, and the purpose for Strategic Plant Reliability Management: Linking Reliability to Financial and Competitive Results.
