A123 Systems, a leading domestic manufacturer of advanced lithium-ion batteries and systems for electric drive-train vehicles, recently opened the largest lithium ion automotive battery facility in the United States.

The state-of-the-art plant in Livonia, Mich., will expand A123's manufacturing capabilities and contributes to the company's plan to expand global final cell assembly capacity to more than 760 megawatt-hours annually by the end of 2011.

As the future of the auto industry is focused on the electrification of vehicles, A123 Systems is poised to take a leadership role in providing the enabling technology to power the "transportation revolution."
