Ontario helps candy manufacturer grow

Ontario is helping a candy manufacturer in Hamilton increase its productivity and reduce costs.

The company, Karma Candy, is investing in new equipment, including advanced packaging equipment and building control systems that will minimize waste and increase energy efficiency. These enhancements will help Karma Candy attract new customers and remain competitive. The project will create 30 new jobs and support an existing 116 positions at the company.

Partnering with business is part of the McGuinty government's plan to attract investment and create high-value jobs for Ontario families.

Quick Facts:
The province is providing a loan of $1.65 million in support of Karma Candys total investment of $5.5 million over the next five years.

Karma Candy is one of the largest contract confectionery manufacturers in Canada.

Since 2005, the Advanced Manufacturing Investment Strategy has already leveraged more than $895 million in industry investment and secured more than 4,200 high-value jobs.
