CoorsTek Inc., a large technical ceramics supplier and manufacturer of heavy-duty pulsation mitigation equipment for the oil and gas industries, on November 30 announced the acquisition of the Flowguard pressure control business located in Manchester, England. Flowguard specializes in the design and construction of hydro-pneumatic pressure vessels including pulsation dampeners, suction stabilizers and surge absorbers for use in subsea oil and gas, food and beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical and other critical-duty applications.

Through its focus on high-end fluid/slurry pulsation stabilization, Flowguard has developed an expansive line of stainless steel and other advanced material offerings suitable for hygienic, caustic, high-temperature and high-pressure environments. Flowguard maintains an ISO-9001 or better manufacturing certification and offers hygienic CIP (clean-in-place) and SIP (stream-in-place) capabilities for pharmaceutical and food/beverage applications.

CoorsTek will retain the Flowguard brand and infuse technical and material innovations to further enhance its high-quality market position. CoorsTek will also expand European market coverage of its current petroleum-production-based line of pulsation dampeners and stabilizers with this transaction.

"Flowguard offers pulsation and suction stabilizers to world markets and locations we have not yet reached," states Mark Chenoweth, executive vice president of CoorsTek. "In addition to bolstering our own pulsation line, we bring a significant level of technical and material expertise to this enterprise and expect customers and their industries to benefit substantially," he continued.
