Honda sets record for auto production for the first half of fiscal year

Honda Motor Company Ltd. on October 25 announced a summary of automobile production, Japan domestic sales and export results for the month of September 2010 and the first half of the current fiscal year (April-September 2010).

Production
First Half of Current Fiscal Year (April - September 2010)
Production in Japan for the first half of the current fiscal year experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in four years (since the fiscal year ended March 31, 2007).

Production in regions outside of Japan for the first half of the current fiscal year experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in two years (since the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009), including all-time record production in Asia and China for the first half of a fiscal year.

Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in two years (since the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009).

September 2010
Production in Japan for the month of September 2010 experienced a year-on-year increase for the ninth consecutive month (since January 2010).

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year increase for the 11th consecutive month (since November 2009). This includes record production in Asia and China for the month of September.

Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year increase for the tenth consecutive month (since December 2009).

Japan Domestic Market Sales
First Half of Current Fiscal Year (April - September 2010)
Total Japan domestic market auto sales for the first half of the current fiscal year experienced a year-on-year increase for the third consecutive year (since the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009).

New vehicle registrations for the first half of the current fiscal year experienced a year-on-year increase for the third consecutive year (since the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009).

Sales of mini-vehicles for the first half of the current fiscal year experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in four years (since the fiscal year ended March 31, 2007).

Vehicle registrations - excluding mini-vehicles
Fit was the industry's second-best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the first half of the current fiscal year, with sales of 90,074 units. Freed was the industry's fifth-best-selling car with sales of 51,075 units. Step WGN was the industry's seventh-best-selling car with sales of 43,335 units.

Mini-vehicles - under 660cc
Life was the industry's seventh-best-selling car among mini-vehicles for the first half of the current fiscal year with sales of 32,895 units. Zest was the industry's 10th-best-selling car with sales of 21,905 units.

September 2010
Total Japan domestic market auto sales for the month of September 2010 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in 15 months (since June 2009).

New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in 18 months (since March 2009).

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year increase for the sixth consecutive month (since April 2010).

Vehicle registrations - excluding mini-vehicles
Fit was the industry's second-best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the month of September 2010 with sales of 14,622 units. Freed was the industry's third-best-selling car with sales of 11,939 units.

Mini-vehicles - under 660cc
Life was the industry's ninth-best-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the month of September 2010, with sales of 4,883 units.

Total exports from Japan for the first half of the current fiscal year experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in three years (since the fiscal year ended March 31, 2008).

September 2010
Total exports from Japan in September 2010 experienced a year-on-year increase for the seventh consecutive month (since March 2010).
