Nissan marks all-time production record for month of August

Nissan Motor Company Ltd. on September 28 announced its production, sales and export figures for August 2010.

Production
Nissan's global production in August increased 31.0 percent year-on-year to 310,872 units marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Production in Japan increased 24.6% year-on-year to 91,519 units due to increased output of the new Juke and the new Elgrand.

Production outside of Japan saw an increase of 33.8% year-on-year to 219,353 units marking an all-time record for the month of August.

In the United States, production increased 46.7% year-on-year to 49,281 units due to increased demand for all models led by Altima.

In Mexico, production increased 20.7% year-on-year to 39,946 units due to increased demand for Tiida.

In the United Kingdom, production increased 69.2% year-on-year to 27,756 units due to increased demand for the new Juke and Qashqai.

In Spain, production saw an significant increase of 385.3% year-on-year to 3,135 units due to increased demand for all models led by Primastar.

In China, production increased 4.5% year-on-year to 66,760 units due to increased demand for the new March, NV200 and Qashqai, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Production in other regions were up 98.6% year-on-year to 32,475 units due to increased output in Thailand and India where production of the new March/Micra started this year.

Sales
Global sales increased 5.7% year-on-year to 316,481 units marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 55,083 units in Japan, up 34.6% year-on-year.

In Japan, vehicle registrations in August increased 44.6% year-on-year to 44,854 units due to increased demand for the new Juke launched in June, the new March launched in July and the new Elgrand launched in August.

Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were up 3.2% from the previous year to 10,229 units due to increased demand for the Roox launched last December, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Sales outside of Japan increased 1.1% year-on-year to 261,398 units marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Sales in the U.S. decreased 27.0% to 76,827 units compared to the previous year, when the government's purchase incentive program boosted sales.

In Europe, sales increased 3.1% year-on-year to 32,437 units due to a recovery in demand in Russia.

In China, sales saw an increase of 19.3% year-on-year to 75,096 units due to a high demand for Sylphy and Qashqai, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Sales in other regions increased 43.0% year-on-year to 54,973 units due to increased demand in Thailand and India where the new March/Micra contributed to the sales.

Japan Exports
Nissan's exports in August increased 11.9% year-on-year to 43,145 units.

Exports to North America decreased 36.7% year-on-year to 16,195 units.

Exports to Europe increased significantly, by 489.9% year-on-year to 6,654 units, due to increased demand for Teana and X-TRAIL.
