Nissan global vehicle production in April increased 57% vs. 2009

Nissan Motor Company Ltd. on May 27 announced its production, sales and export figures for April 2010.

Production
Nissan's global production in April increased 57.0 percent year-on-year to 319,673 units marking an all-time record for the month of April.

Production in Japan increased 73.5% year-on-year to 86,180 units due to increased output of the export models.

Production outside of Japan saw an increase of 51.7% year-on-year to 233,493 units marking an all-time record for the month of April.

In the United States, production saw a significant increase of 96.9% year-on-year to 44,489 units due to increased demand for all models led by Altima and Frontier.

In Mexico, production increased 40.4% year-on-year to 37,449 units due to increased demand for all models led by Tiida.

In the United Kingdom, production increased 25.0% year-on-year to 33,050 units due to increased demand for Qashqai.

In Spain, production saw a considerable increase of 194.4% year-on-year to 8,399 units due to increased demand for all models led by Navara.

In China, production increased 42.3% year-on-year to 91,798 units marking an all-time record for the month of April.

Production in other regions was up by 68.8% year-on-year to 18,308 units due to increased output in Thailand, where production of the new March has just started.

Sales
Global sales increased 31.8% to 307,010 units compared to the previous year marking an all-time record for the month of April.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 38,484 units in Japan, up 30.3% year-on-year.

In Japan, vehicle registrations in April increased 31.0% year-on-year to 27,722 units due to increased demand for models eligible for the preferential tax exemption, including Note and Serena, and special campaign models attractively priced with car navigation such as March and Lafesta.

Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were up 28.6% from the previous year to 10,762 units, marking an all-time record for the month of April, boosted by Roox, which joined the lineup from December 2009.

Sales outside of Japan increased 32.0% year-on-year to 268,526 units marking an all-time record for the month of April.

Sales in the U.S. increased 35.1% year-on-year to 63,769 units due to increased demand for Versa, Rogue, and both the Infiniti M and G series.

In Europe, sales increased 18.0% year-on-year to 44,347 units due to increased demand for Qashqai, Note and the addition of Pixo to the lineup.

In China, sales saw an increase of 36.4% year-on-year to 90,464 units marking an all-time record for the month of April.

Sales in other regions increased 32.6% year-on-year to 48,512 units.

Japan Exports
Nissan's exports in April increased 70.4% year-on-year to 52,265 units.

Exports to North America increased 80.2% year-on-year to 27,289 units due to increased demand for Murano and Rogue.

Exports to Europe increased 27.4% year-on-year to 5,633 units due to strong demand for X-Trail.
