Reliable Plant wins two APEX awards

Noria Corporation is proud to announce that Reliable Plant magazine won two awards in the 18th annual Writing That Works “Awards for Publication Excellence” (APEX) competition, including one for being among the best new publications of 2005.

The APEX honors, announced in late June, came less than a month after Reliable Plant won three awards in the 2006 American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) competition.

Awards in the 2006 APEX competition were based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence. Nearly 5,000 entries – from the business press; public relations; and corporate, government and professional organization communications fields – were considered for honors this year. Contest judges are experienced communications executives, editors and consultants.

Reliable Plant, produced by Tulsa, Okla.-based Noria, won an award in the New Magazines & Journals category. It was cited as one of the top new publications of 2005. Other winners in this category included entries from Ziff Davis Media and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Reliable Plant, a bi-monthly magazine covering reliability’s important and expanding role in the manufacturing industry, debuted in July 2005.

For the other APEX award, Reliable Plant editor Paul V. Arnold won in the Feature Writing category for his cover stories on reliability excellence at Alcoa Primary Metals (September/October 2005 issue) and planning and scheduling excellence at Coors Brewing Company (November/December 2005). Other winners in this category included media entries from the American Bar Association Journal and The Scientist magazine, and corporate entries from DaimlerChrysler, Toyota and Sandia National Laboratories.

Arnold

“We are deeply honored and humbled to be recognized by the APEX judges,” said Arnold. “The new publication award is testament to the hard work and dedication of Noria employees and to the contributions of the industry leaders who share their insights and expertise with our readers in each issue. Awards such as those from APEX and ASBPE serve to confirm that our magazine is on the right track. They also serve to make us even hungrier to achieve great things in the issues and years to come.”

The awards Reliable Plant received from ASBPE were for case history (Coors), regular column (“The Exponent”) and regular department (“Lubrication Lessons”).
