The Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME) awarded 10 students and 10 professors nationwide with an educational scholarship to attend the 2009 Lean Accounting Summit, held September 22-23 in Orlando, Fla.

Supported by AME and fellow manufacturing organizations, the annual Lean Accounting Summit attracts more than 500 Lean thinkers from around the world. AME awards the educational scholarships to students and professors interested in learning how adopting Lean accounting principles in their management accounting systems can help organizations make better decisions in their lean transformation efforts. Adopting a lean management accounting system, coincident with but separate from their standard financial reporting system, helps managers understand the financial impacts when making decisions in their Lean operations. AME strongly advocates introducing young men and women to the Lean movement, whether in a manufacturing or other setting.
