Robert Wood, dean of Continuing Education at the University of North Florida, and Jeff Shiver, president of People and Processes Inc., announced a partnership to launch a new center to offer professional training, coaching, and mentoring to local businesses, manufacturers and organizations.

The new facility, called the RAMS Center (an acronym for Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Sustainability), will operate under the umbrella of the Division of Continuing Education at UNF. People and Processes Inc. will provide the training content, curriculum, instructors and consultants. The center is opening this month.

Through short courses, on-site consulting services and technical information, the center will provide training and services focused on employee development, operations, maintenance, business process re-engineering and promotion of industry-recognized best practices.

“The formation of RAMS is a strategic move in response to a critical need for increased capabilities and skills development in the manufacturing and production sectors, although services translate well to a wide range of business sectors,” said Wood.

“Our objectives at People and Process are centered on improving leadership and education in the business community,” Shiver said. “That is why we partnered with UNF Continuing Education to develop RAMS. We have gone so far as to open an office on campus to support the program.”

The initial curriculum at the RAMS Center includes: Maintenance and Reliability for Managers, a 4-Part Series; Maintenance Planning and Scheduling; Materials Management; Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Development; Total Productive Maintenance; along with the opportunity for customer-defined training development.

Yulee, Fla.-based People and Processes Inc. is an education and consulting firm providing professional services dedicated to business management functions involving asset/equipment management, continuous improvement and education in maintenance, operations and reliability.
