According to a recent report by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, many U.S.-based manufacturing companies are utilizing lean manufacturing techniques. However, the report shows that there’s a lot of room for improvement. The report chronicles that:

·        73 percent of U.S. manufacturers actively deploy lean or Six Sigma

·        49 percent of senior manufacturing executives are satisfied with their lean programs

·        44 percent of senior executives believe their lean programs are effective

·        5 percent of senior executives rate their lean programs as extremely effective

·        22 percent of U.S. manufacturers don’t use either lean or Six Sigma methodologies

Companies looking to improve upon their lean results – or expand the reach or scope of their lean programs – need to attend Reliable Plant’s “Lean Manufacturing 2008: Lean Tools for Maintenance and Reliability” conference, held October 6-8 in Chicago.
