Employees at Mohawk Fine Papers Inc. have performed one million safe work hours without a day lost to injury.

This accomplishment, by approximately 400 employees at four Upstate New York facilities, demonstrates Mohawk's focus on workplace safety. There were no incidents at any of the following facilities between March 2005 and March 2006: Cohoes Paper Mill, Cohoes Specialty Converting Center, Waterford Paper Mill, and Port of Albany Warehouse & Distribution.

"This is a difficult milestone to achieve for any manufacturing operation, and we consider it to be a very big deal for our company and our employees," said Kevin P. Richard, executive vice president, operations. "More than any other type of achievement, this goal is only accomplished with the dedication of every single employee. Workplace safety comes first at Mohawk."

Mohawk continues to set the industry standards for quality and is known industry-wide for its progressive environmental practices. It is the largest manufacturer of premium printing, writing and imaging papers in the country.
